Interoperability Makes Sure Someone Always Answers At E911

Montesano, WA - Disaster Preparedness is about having backup plans for your backup plans, Deputy Director of Grays Harbor's Emergency Management Agency Chuck Wallace told us recently, calls to 911 might not always get through to Grays Harbor, but the goal is to make sure they always get through "so if something was to happen, and we lose communication here in Grays Harbor County, Thurston County could actually dispatch our police and fire."
Wallace said an Interoperability plan between all Region 3 counties allows Grays Harbor, Thurston, Mason, Pacific, and Lewis counties to dispatch ambulance, fire, or police from any county. "This is something we've been working on, we are the only group in the entire state of Washington, and I would venture to say the only group in the United States that can do that."
