Pacific County Faces Major Hospital Cuts

RAYMOND, Wash. - Pacific County's Economic Development Council warns that their fifth and seventh largest employers are each facing $1.2-million in revenue losses with federal cuts to medicaid. Cathy Russ, Executive Director of the Pacific County EDC warns that major cuts at Ocean Beach Hospital and Willapa Harbor Hospital could affect over 400 jobs, cut funding to schools, and raise costs for EMS transfers to other hospitals. Russ said cuts proposed recently by the Health Care Authority included eliminating Critical Access payments to hospitals for Medicaid payments.
