Fish and Wildlife Cuts Could Shutter Grays Harbor Fishery

Posted by David Haviland on October 19, 2011 at 2:10 pm (377 social interactions)

Hoquiam, WA - A meeting tonight will discuss Fish and Wildlife budget cuts that could threaten Grays Harbor salmon fisheries. State Representative Brian Blake tells us these cuts address last year's budget crunch; "even with the revenue that we did last year, there was still a need to do cuts and this is the cut internally that Fish and Wildlife came up with for last fall."
Blake said the Department of Fish and Wildlife is looking at not producing any Chinook at Humptulips, and cutting back coho production by 720,000. Tonight's meeting will be at 7pm, at 706 Simpson Avenue in Downtown Hoquiam.
