Westport Says Goodbye to Derelict Vessel

Westport, WA - Anyone who remembers the Northern Retriever will remember what a city goes through to get rid of a derelict vessel. The tug that was moored off of Rennie Island since 1993 cost taxpayers almost 900 thousand dollars to scrap it in Seattle in 2009... Westport had one for almost 6 years, and sold it, four times.
Marina Manager Robin (Lair-es) Lerass was happy to tell Port Commissioners yesterday the fourth time was the charm "Now you look down float 11, there's nothing there but steps." Leraas said the Sitkin Island had been at float 11 since 2005, the fourth buyer towed out it of port last week, headed for Kathlamat.
