Montesano, WA - After some Robert's Rules confusion, the Grays Harbor County Commissioners today adopted Redistricting Map Proposal Number 4. County Commissioner Herb Welch reluctantly seconded a proposal to adopt number 4, in order, as Commission Chair Terry Willis explained, to discuss two other options that had been drafted since last week's meeting. After a brief presentation, the Commissioners voted on the hanging motion, which was to adopt map number 4. With a yes vote from Mike Wilson and a nay vote from Herb Welch, Willis broke the tie with a yes vote, ending the debate. The two other options drafted both sought to keep Cosmopolis in district 2, one featured a novel approach of moving 1900 non-voting prisoners at Stafford Creek into District 3 to balance out about 1700 Cosi citizens, Map 4 moves the majority of Cosi into District 3, with the exception of Highlands Golf Course, and portions of their school district.
