North Beach Group Expands Goals, Talks With County

Ocean Shores, WA - A grass roots effort to keep programs and employees in the County Sheriff's Department met this week with County Commissioner Herb Welch. SWORD members were invited to the North Beach Business Association meeting Wednesday,  Sara Owen, co-founder of Stand With Our Resident Deputy tells us their goals have expanded since inception last month. "We think the cuts are too deep. The Sheriff's Department will have lost 14 positions since 1998, and crime has gone up by %33."
Owen said isolated areas of the County feel these cuts the most, SWORD plans to attend a Commissioner's meeting soon and continue their quest for a fully funded Sheriff's Department.
