State's First STEM School Prepares Parents

Aberdeen, WA - Stevens Elementary Principal Kathleen Warner told a crowd of parents, teachers, and even some fidgety students last night.... what to expect from that state's flagship STEM school "this is the beginning of a STEM classroom, it's not a classroom or a school that fits kids into it."
Werner said that teaching hasn't really changed in years; "take a minute to think about your school, I know my school; teacher said 'it's ten o'clock time for Science' and then she said 'Oh, it's eleven, put it away and now we're going to do math'."
Werner said Stevens teachers went to school over the summer to build a teaching model that will incorporate Science Technology, Engineering and Math in a way that prepares kids for life, not just for tests.
