Aberdeen Mulls Transportation Benefit District

Posted by David Haviland on August 24, 2011 at 8:46 am (389 social interactions)

Aberdeen, WA - City Council could soon consider an alternative income to fund road repairs. The formation of a transportation benefit district was recently recommended by Aberdeen Public works Director Larry Bledsoe to help repair city streets. "The difference is any money that's raised in the transportation benefit district can only be spent on those items for which the district was formed."
Money raised by the district could come in the form of a sales tax, vehicle license fees, or even a levy. It is expected that council members will form a workshop to study the law passed in 2007 allowing the local revenue to fund local transportation projects.
