County Grants Open Space Classification

Posted by David Haviland on August 17, 2011 at 4:43 am (326 social interactions)

The County has granted an Open Space Classification to over 62 acres of property near Stafford Creek Corrections Center and 270 acres near Hogan's Corner. Elsa Seargent, lands coordinator with Cascade Land Conservancy told the Commissioners that the change in tax status will allow them to invest in the land "Having a tax savings allows us to do more stewardship work on the properties, further restoration work, and have a better eye on the land."

With the change in classification, the county looses around $1500 in annual taxes from the Conservancy.
