Commissioners Agree to Try Again

Aberdeen, WA - The only thing multiple commissioners could agree on at a redistricting meeting yesterday was to try again "I think that alternatives are very important to be reviewed and looked at."
Cosmopolis Mayor Vicky Raines criticized two of the three plans presented by County Auditor Vern Spatz that proposed moving Cosmopolis into the East County District "When we're doing redistricting and you start moving those blocks around, it's like squeezing a water balloon. So as you move one district that forces the lines into population of other areas."
Spatz presented the plans to County, PUD and Port Commissioners as well as mayors of Cosmopolis and Westport. The Commissioners agreed to ask the Auditors office to research alternatives that had less impact on the current district map.
