DNR to host open house for proposed Nisqually Reach Aquatic Reserve

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host an open house for the draft Nisqually Reach Aquatic Reserve Management Plan in Olympia as part of the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). The meeting will provide information about the purpose of the plan and collect public input.
 The proposed Nisqually Reach Aquatic Reserve is recognized for its unique aquatic landscapes, aquatic vegetation, and diversity of fish and wildlife. The site was proposed for protection by the Nisqually Reach Nature Center and a draft management plan was created to identify the natural resources, habitats, and species within the proposed reserve, and the proposed uses, future threats, and management actions that will be carried out by DNR to protect these resources.

Who:    Washington State Department of Natural Resources Aquatic Reserves Program. 

What:   Open House for the draft Nisqually Reach Aquatic Reserve Management Plan. 

When:   Friday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Where:  Nisqually Reach Nature Center, 4949 D'Milluhr Drive NE

Why:    As part of the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA).

 

Comments on the Draft Nisqually Reach Aquatic Reserve Management Plan can be submitted in person at the open house or to the DNR SEPA Center by August 12, 2011, at sepacenter@dnr.wa.gov, or PO Box 47015, Olympia, Washington, 98504-7015.
