Westport, WA - The Coast Guard assisted the 48-foot fishing vessel JB which ran aground on the south jetty at Grays Harbor, Wash., at 1:45 a.m., Monday. Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received the distress call and coordinated the deployment of a Station Grays Harbor 25-foot response boat and 47-foot motor lifeboat crews, and an Air Station Astoria MH60 Jayhawk helicopter crew. The Station Grays Harbor crews arrived on scene at 2:12 a.m., and removed the two personnel on board from the vessel. The fishing vessel JB was then taken into tow and pulled from the jetty rocks en route to Grays Harbor, but began taking on water and sank in 15-feet of water. The vessel is outside of the navigable waterway and is reportedly not causing a navigational hazard.
