Hoquiam, WA - A Fish Passage Crew encountered a rather mad cougar recently, Puget Sound Salmon Manager Steve Thiesfeld said the two surveyors were completing a habitat survey yesterday on the Little Hoquiam River south of State Route 109 when they spotted the cougar following them, with ears back and hissing. The two faced the animal, waving arms and inching toward the road for about twenty minutes. Theisfeld said the cat came within striking distance several times before they made it to the roadway, where they reached their truck and reported the incident to Wildlife Officials.
