Saltwater Beach Monitoring to Begin

Washington State - The state's BEACH program will monitor approximately 70 of our state's most popular saltwater beaches this summer to protect from bacteria-related illnesses. The program notifies the public when bacteria results are high and educates people about how to avoid getting sick from playing in saltwater. The program is jointly coordinated by the state Departments of Ecology and Health. It is implemented by local health agencies, tribal nations and volunteers. To learn more, go to Ecology's home page at www.ecy.wa.gov and search "beach program."
