Seventy-Six Guns Stolen From One Home

Shelton, WA - A 35 year old Grapeview Woman is in custody and the Mason County Sheriff's Department investigation into a $200,000 theft continues. Chief Deputy Dean Byrd tells us Orlena Rae Drath is charged with 32 counts of unlawful possession of a stolen firearm, and trafficking stolen property. According to investigators, a Lake Limerick home was broken into April 2nd, suspects used an acetylene torch to open gun safes and steal 76 firearms, coin and stamp collections, a miniature car collection, as well as various swords and knives, and ivory. Four days later detectives were contacted by a Shelton man who had purchased some of the stolen firearms. A second suspect being sought in the case is identified as Scott Heirgstad, a 45 year old Grapeview man, 5' 07" weighing 152 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

A 35 year old Grapeview woman is in custody this morning as Mason County Sheriff’s Deputies continue there 10 day long investigation into a burglary that resulted in the theft of firearms and other items valued in excess of $200,000.  Orlena Rae Drath remains in custody at the Mason County Jail charged with 32 counts of unlawful possession a firearm in the first degree, 32 counts of possession of a stolen firearm, and trafficking stolen property in the first degree.  Drath made her first court appearance this morning and is being held on $15,000 bail.

This case began when the Mason County was notified of the burglary in the Lake Limerick area on the morning of April 2.  The home owner discovered his house had been broken into and his residence had been ransacked.  The suspects had used an acetylene torch to break into safes where guns were stored.  According to Sheriff’s Deputies, seventy six firearms, coin and stamp collections, a Matchbox/Hot Wheels collection, various swords and knives and ivory were stolen from the residence.

Four days later detectives were contacted by a Shelton man who had purchased some of the stolen firearms.  The witness was able to provide enough information to for investigators to identify Drath and a second suspect.  Drath was stopped last night by deputies, during that contact investigators developed more information on this case leading to the arrest of Drath and more information about the second suspect.  According to Sheriff’s Deputies, Drath is cooperating with investigators.

The second suspect being sought in this case is identified as Scott A. Herigstad, 45, Grapeview.  Herigstad is a white male, 5’07”, 152 lbs, brown hair, and blue eyes.

According to Detective Jeff Rhoades, “we are well on our way to concluding this investigation, but we need anyone purchasing the items from the two suspects to come forward.”  Investigators have only recovered a portion of the guns stolen from this burglary.  Swords, knives, stamps, coins were recovered last night during the service of two search warrants.  The ivory and several guns have not yet been recovered.
