On Sunday morning, April 5th, Troopers arrested a 62 year old Bellingham resident for his 7th DUI charge, 5 of which have occurred within the last 5 years.
Marvin D. Ward was arrested by a King County Trooper Sunday morning after the Trooper observed his blue Toyota Minivan being driven erratically northbound I-5 near the University District. Ward, who was also driving on a revoked license, had a breath alcohol concentration of .183, more than double the legal limit. He was booked into King County Jail for felony DUI and is currently being held on $100,000 bail.

Since July of 2007, it is a felony in the State of Washington if any person arrested for DUI has 4 or more prior offenses within ten years, or if the person arrested has ever previously been convicted of vehicular homicide or vehicular assault while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Since the felony DUI law was enacted, the Washington State Patrol has charged 82 impaired drivers for felony DUI. 17 of the 82 have been charged in King County alone.
