Aberdeen Mayor Stable, Recovering

Posted by David Haviland on February 10, 2011 at 5:04 am (1164 social interactions)

Aberdeen, WA –  In an unusual step, Grays Harbor Community Hospital is making a public statement about the status of one of its patients.  “Mayor Bill Simpson of Aberdeen was recently admitted to our hospital for care”, said Linda Brown, Community Hospital’s spokeswoman.  “And because of the growing interest expressed by members of the community, the Mayor and his family have asked that we reassure everyone about his condition.”

Simpson’s physician, Dr. Daniel Canfield said “The Mayor is very stable at this time, and he is recovering nicely.  The most important thing for him right now is to rest, which is why we are not allowing visitors or phone calls.  Bill is a very active and engaged civil servant, and what we have asked is that he set that aside while he is in the hospital and simply focus on himself and his recovery.”

“We appreciate everyone’s get-well wishes and prayers”, said Simpson from his hospital bed.  “My wife has teased me that this is a heck of a way to get attention,” he joked.  “I want to thank everyone that has sent messages to me through City Hall; we’ve been touched by the concern everyone has shown.  It just proves what I have always said:  this is the greatest community; and I am so proud to be a member of it.”

“We ask that friends and well-wishers respect the Mayor and his family’s request for privacy at this time” said Brown.  “He is eager to return home, and we’re doing everything we can to support him in making a speedy recovery.”
