How Much Do Your Beaches Cost?

Aberdeen, WA - Faced with deep budget cuts, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Department is considering closing or charging for access to beaches in Westport and Ocean Shores, among others. An idea not favored by Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce President Leroy Tipton "It would be a bureaucratic nightmare, we believe, for there to be a  charge for people to go onto the beach."
Tipton said multiple alternatives are being researched, some less favorable may include tolls, or user-based fees to access a state beach. While there is no proposed law change, nor a bill before legislators, Tipton tells KBKW that staff at the Parks Department are warning local government that changes are coming.
