Aberdeen- Beginning February 7, 2011 the Grays Harbor PUD Board of Commissioners will meet on the first and third Monday of each month. The new schedule means the Board of Commissioners will meet twice a month rather than weekly. The meeting time remains the same, with a “war room” session beginning at 3pm, a workshop beginning at 3:30pm and the regular business meeting beginning at 4:30pm. The Board will hold the January 31, 2011 meeting as previously scheduled.
The regular meeting place of the District’s Board of Commissioners is in the Public Meeting Room of the Nichols Building (Room 108), 220 Myrtle Street, Hoquiam, Washington.

The change in the schedule was approved on a 2-1 vote by the Board of Commissioners at the January 24, 2011 meeting after a discussion about whether or not a weekly meeting was needed. Commissioner Dave Timmons and Commissioner Russ Skolrood voted in support of the schedule change, saying while they were very willing to meet weekly, reducing the number of meetings would provide for a more effective use of staff time and save the District money while still allowing the Board the necessary time to carry out the business of the District. In addition, the two Board members indicated should the needs of the District warrant additional meetings, Special Meetings could be called as needed. Commissioner Tom Casey voted against the schedule change saying that it would cut the Board’s time with the public in half and would not provide enough time for the Board to discuss policy issues.
