Montesano Makes an Offer For New Police Chief

MONTESANO, WA - The City of Montesano may soon have a new Chief of Police. With the city council's approval... Interim Police Chief Brett Vance will be sworn in at the council meeting on Tuesday. Vance said the city made the offer earlier this week; "I'm excited that we can actually start moving forward, and getting some things going" Vance said he looks forward to making some permanent changes at the Montesano Police Department; "The first thing I'd like to do is get the department whole again, we've been running one man down since April of last year."
Former Montesano Police Chief Ray Sowers was suspended in April, then relieved of his duties in June  of last year and placed under investigation over illegal credit card purchases, he resigned in September. Later last month Montesano Officials announced that charges have been filed against Sowers for theft and falsification of accounts.
