Mason County Deputies Investigate Lake Cushman Shooting

Shelton, WA - Mason County Sheriff's Detectives are investigating the shooting of a 19 year old, Belfair, brush picker in the Lake Cushman area of Mason County.  Yesterday at about 3:50 PM Deputies were advised of the shooting that occurred near the intersection of North Rainbow Way East and North Coho Court.

The victim and a witness told Detectives they were walking out of the woods from brush picking when a third man armed with a rifle approached them.  The man then shot the victim in the shoulder and left the area.  Medics and Deputies were summoned to the area immediately.  The victim was transported to Mason General Hospital and later transferred to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle.  The victim is expected to recover from his wound.

Sheriff's Detectives are following up today on several leads developed in this case.  They are looking for at least one person of interest who may be able to provide more information on what lead up to the shooting.  Officials are not releasing the victim's name.  No suspect has yet been identified.
