ABERDEEN, Wash. - An Aberdeen woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer yesterday afternoon, while trying to prevent the officer from talking to her boyfriend.

It began just before 3pm when the Aberdeen Police Officer spotted a 39 year old Aberdeen man walking in the 400 block of West first street and recognized him as having outstanding warrants for his arrest. When the officer attempted to follow the man into an apartment complex, a 28 year old woman came out and struck the officer in the jaw and neck with her forearm. The woman was taken into custody without further incident, the officer was not injured and the suspect was later arrested no the outstanding warrants.
