ELMA, Wash. - This Saturday Night at Grays Harbor Raceway located at the Fairgrounds in Elma, Harbor Pacific Bottling will bring to you the 50 lap Mountain Dew/AMP Energy sponsored DAA Northwest Spec Motor Late Model Series presented by Sherwin Williams. Also included in the program will be round two of the Cut Rate Auto Parts Hobby/Street Stock Challenge between Sunset Speedway in Banks, Oregon and Grays Harbor Raceway, that will bring cars from all over the Northwest. Other ASA Track Member classes that will be in action include the Shipwreck Beads Modifieds and Hornets.
The DAA Northwest Spec Motor Late Model Series presented by Sherwin Williams will make their fifteenth start in the 22 race series at Grays Harbor Raceway on Saturday Night. This will be the second and final stop on the fast 3/8’s mile clay oval this year for the series.. Many time Sunset Speedway Park Champion and current points leader Greg Walters from Banks, Oregon will lead the way. Walters can expect tough competition from several drivers including Brownsville, Oregon star driver and many time Willamette Speedway Outlaw Late Model Champion Russ Sell, last year’s Northwest Spec Motor Series Champion Jason Wines from Lebanon, Oregon, Brady Sell from Salem. Scio, Oregon driver Steve Moore, Other drivers expected to compete include Vancouver, Washington drivers Jerry and Jimmy Schram and the father son team of Jeff and Brandon Biffle, along with Oregon drivers, Terry Ferrando, Billy Workman Jr., Brett James, Britton Donahoo, Scott Puncochar, Kris Pickle and Brittany Ray.
The Cut Rate Auto Parts Hobby/Street Stock Challenge will be the second and final race of the series between Grays Harbor Raceway and Sunset Speedway in Banks, Oregon. After round one in Banks on August 7th, Bank’s drivers hold down the top four spots lead by Randy Allen with 110 points, followed by Tony Catalano with 99, Josh Jones with 94 and Collen Winebarger with 88, top Grays Harbor Raceway driver is three time Track Champion and current Grays Harbor Raceway points leader Zack Simpson from Aberdeen in fifth with 85 points. Other local drivers include Tom Sweatman from Cosmopolis in eighth, Aberdeen’s Jack Parshall Jr. in eleventh and Jay Biggs in thirteenth.
In the Shipwreck Beads Modified Division the first three positions are all held by former Modifed Champions. Shelton’s Scott Miller leads 2009 Champion Josh Muller by 6points 947 to 941, Seabeck’s Craig Moore holds down third with 907 points. The next two positions are held by two drivers doing a outstanding job, Joe German from Aberdeen with 829 points and Jim Oien Jr from McCleary with 476 points.
