Judge Puts Raymond Pharmacy Suspension on Hold

Posted by David Haviland on August 10, 2010 at 5:01 pm (898 social interactions)

Raymond, WA - A local judge has issued a temporary restraining order that effectively overturns the license suspension of a Raymond-area pharmacy and pharmacist — at least for now.

The Pacific County Superior Court judge set a hearing in two weeks to determine whether the injunction should be made permanent in the case of suspended pharmacy credentials for Ronald G. Brummel and his Raymond Drug Company.

The state Board of Pharmacy and the Washington State Department of Health issued the immediate suspensions (http://www.doh.wa.gov/Publicat/2010_news/10-125.htm) on August 4. The judge issued a temporary restraining order on August 6, allowing the pharmacy to remain open and the pharmacist to continue practicing.

According to the board’s statement of charges, Brummel filled prescriptions for legend drugs via the Internet for patients across the country who’d not had proper consultations with a doctor. The Board of Pharmacy will conduct a hearing on the charges at a later date.

The Superior Court hearing is set for August 20. It will determine whether the temporary restraining order against the state suspension will become a preliminary injunction pending the outcome of the state charges against the pharmacy credentials.
