A last minute addition to the agenda seeks to temporarily remove the city's sign ordinance. Expect to see the sandwich boards hitting the sidewalks very soon.

Barbara Bennet Parsons, Executive Director of the Hoquiam Business Association tells KBKW News "the first step is to get the downtown businesses together and discuss options with the Department of Transportation." Hoquiam Mayor Jack Durney said the city hopes to have a representative from the Department of Transportation at tonight's council meeting to discuss some options as well.

WSDOT closed the US 101 Simpson Avenue Bridge to motor-vehicle traffic Thursday, Aug. 5, because of concerns about its structural integrity. Underwater inpections were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 3, and Wednesday, Aug. 4, after WSDOT crews noticed unusual movement of the bridge.
