HOQUIAM, Wash. - The Hoquiam City Council will seek a temporary suspension of their city ordinance limiting sandwich board signs in downtown Hoquiam. Closure of the Simpson Avenue Bridge prompted the last minute addition to the council's agenda for their upcoming meeting Monday evening.

Barbara Bennet Parsons, Executive Director of the Hoquiam Business Association tells KBKW News "the first step is to get the downtown businesses together and discuss options with the Department of Transportation" Parsons said some options that might be discusses include shuttle services complimenting a foot-traffic downtown Hoquiam while repairs are made to the Simpson Avenue Bridge.

The Washington State Department of Transportation closed the Simpson Avenue Bridge Thursday evening, because of concerns about its structural integrity. The bridge closure will remain in place until further notice.
