On August 4, 2010 at 11:12 am officers of the Hoquiam police department and a fire department aid crew responded a home in the 2700 block of Pacific Avenue to the report of a 3-year old child who was not breathing. The child was deceased upon arrival.

There were no apparent signs of trauma to the child’s body. The mother told detectives the child had not been sick and she had not exhibited any signs that something was medically wrong.

According to the Coroner’s Office, an autopsy will be scheduled in order to determine the cause of death.

Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Meyers tells us two other young children in the home were taken into protective custody and turned over to Child Protective Services, they were later placed with other family members. Hoquiam detectives are continuing the investigation with the Grays Harbor County Coroner’s Office and Child Protective Services.
