Aberdeen, WA - Aberdeen High School Senior Katie Grimnes was elected as a National Officer at the SkillsUSA National Skills Leadership Conference this past week (June 21st through 25th) in Kansas City, MO. Katie has served as chapter president for Aberdeen High School the past two years and has also served as the State Sergeant-of-Arms her Sophomore year and the State Treasurer this past year. Katie also placed second at state in Residential Wiring held this past April in Yakima, WA. Katie Grimnes becomes Aberdeen High School’s first ever National Officer. Katie will attend officer training July 22nd through the 30th in Virginia.
Other students receiving outstanding recognition were Jacob Benner who placed sixth in the nation in the Residential Wiring Competition. Jacob also received Skill Point Certification which is an industry recognized employment standard based off of their Industry Standards Written Test. Tyler Shelton and Samantha Tomlin placed tenth in the nation in Audio Production and both also received Skill Point Certification.
Karmen Ayres placed twelfth in the nation in Extemporaneous Speaking. Karmen also competed in the SkillsUSA Alumni 5K Run where she placed ninth out of 300 competitors. Also competing was Zack Smith in Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration.
