Ocean Shores Disable Vessel Rescue

Posted by David Haviland on January 11, 2010 at 5:10 am (488 social interactions)

Ocean Shores, WA - On January 9, 2010 at approximately 1:20 PM the Ocean Shores Police Surf Rescue Team responded to a report of a small boat with an engine on fire a half-mile out from the Ocean Shores Marina. Team members responded to assess damage and injuries and found that the boat fire had been extinguished and the boat was disabled in the water. Team members transferred a female passenger back to the marina by personal watercraft and assisted in towing the boat to deeper water so that the Coast Guard could tow the boat back to the marina. The Coast Guard was unable to approach the boat due to the shallow conditions created by the tide being out. The boat operator and passenger were both Ocean Shores residents and neither suffered any injuries.
