Raymond to Renew M&O Levy

Posted by David Haviland on January 6, 2010 at 8:45 am (599 social interactions)

The Raymond School Board has voted to run a maintenance and operations levy to replace the expiring levy. The anticipated levy rate of $3.83 per $1,000 is the same as the 2009 rate. The levy pays for such things as individualized student support, increased costs and extracurricular activities. The proposed levy will go to the voters on February 9th.

"The passage of this levy is critical," said Dr. Stephen Holland, Superintendent of Raymond Schools. "The levy dollars represent approximately 20% of the money we receive from the state. Additionally, when the voters approve this levy the state will automatically give us about a 50% match. That money is only available if the levy passes."

Additional information about the levy will be forthcoming in a brochure that will be mailed out to all district residents just prior to the ballots being mailed. Questions may be addressed to Dr. Holland at sholland@raymond.k12.wa.us or 942-3415.
