Ocosta School Kids to Tour Lady Washington

Westport, WA - Two groups of students from Ocosta Elementary School in Westport will participate in dockside education programs aboard Lady Washington next week. The tours are scheduled for Tuesday morning, the day after Lady Washington is scheduled to arrive at Westport Marina. 


From Dec. 21 through March 1, 2010, Lady Washington will be closed to the public for a scheduled replacement of her auxiliary engine. However, the ship is scheduling dockside educational programs for Grays Harbor K-12 students and home school groups. While she is in Westport, the Lady Washington will open to the public on these dates and times: 12/15, 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.; 12/16, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, members of the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Board will accept donations for Coastal Harvest, formerly the Grays Harbor Food Bank, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the vessel’s berth.

 

On Dec. 17, Lady Washington will sail for Aberdeen Landing, 701 East Heron Street in Aberdeen. She will open for public walk-on tours on these dates and times: 12/17, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.; 12/18, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; 12/19-20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Dec. 18, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., GHHSA board members will be on hand again to accept donations for Coastal Harvest.

 

Lady Washington will also take guests on three-hour Adventure Sails Dec. 19 and 20. Adventure Sails feature demonstrations of tall ship handling, a sea shanty, and an opportunity for guests to help sail Lady Washington.
