Thursday, Nov. 5, 5 - 9 p.m.

Once a month, the Museum stays open late-and admission is free! Enjoy the Museum's Great Gallery, Personal Courage Wing, Space: Exploring the New Frontier exhibit, flight simulators and more from 5 - 9 p.m., courtesy of Wells Fargo. Museum Airpark, Store and Wings Café will also remain open for the extended hours on this night.

 

Bank of America Weekend Family Workshop: Science Fiction and Science Fact-Journey to the Stars

Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15, 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

Visitors will look at some of the beautiful rocket designs artists have created for magazine covers, television and movies--images that have inspired real life rocket design; then make a star cruiser space ship to travel to distant stars!

 

Astrobiology: Is There Life Out There?

An International Year of Astronomy Lecture by UW Professor Dr. Woody Sullivan

Saturday, Nov. 7, 2 p.m., William M. Allen Theater

People have long wondered if there are other worlds like the Earth populated with beings with whom we could communicate. Dr. Sullivan will present the current search of Earth-like planets around other stars and the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI), as well as the possibility of find life in our own Solar System.

 

Flaming Geyser Flyers Model Aviation Exhibit

Sunday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Side Gallery

Relive the history and gaze into the future of model aviation with a prestigious showcase of Northwest model airplanes. The Puget Sound Electric Model Flyers will host a Model Aviation Exhibit in the Side Gallery. This display will include models of every size and type. See an amazing display of Radio Control, Free Flight, and Control Line models. 

 

Veterans Day Ceremony

Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2 p.m., Side Gallery

Please join the Museum in recognizing the contributions of America's veterans at our annual Veterans Day Ceremony to be held in the Side Gallery. The ceremony will be complemented once again by a performance by the Boeing Employees' Concert Band and special programs will be held for youth, families and adults. On Veterans Day all U.S. veterans and current U.S. military personnel will be admitted to the Museum free of charge. An autograph session immediately follows the ceremony.

 

Bank of America Weekend Family Workshop: Trailblazers in Aviation--Amelia Earhart

Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 21, 22, 28 and 29, 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

Famous, daring and courageous, Amelia Earhart remains an inspiration to women and girls all over the world. Learn about Amelia and the aviator gear she wore in her famous flights. Then make a pair of aviator goggles and an aviator scarf.

 

Celebrating Courageous Dreamers

Saturday Nov. 14, 11:15 - 11:45 a.m., Side Gallery

Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 12 as the Seattle Symphony Pacific Northwest Orchestra and the Boeing Band perform the opening bars of Also Sprach Zarathustra; Dvorak's 9th Symphony, 4th movement; and Mars from Holst's The Planet. Performance conducted by the Seattle Symphony Orchestra's Gerard Schwarz.

 

Vietnam Pilots: "Choppers to Bombers"

The Vietnam Conflict was marked by a wide array of air operations. The Museum is proud to host a panel of flyers that saw action in the skies over North Vietnam, from tree top level and from the stratosphere. The panel will include helicopter pilots Mike Brown, Pat Staeheli and Steve Vermillion, as well as B-52 bomber pilot, Jim Farmer. The panel will be moderated by Greg Pierce.

 

"Quonset Hut Mission Briefing" with Museum Senior Curator Dan Hagedorn: The North American T-6

Saturday, Nov. 21, 2 p.m., Quonset Hut Theater, Personal Courage Wing

Museum of Flight's Senior Curator, Dan Hagedorn is the author of "the definitive history" of the world's most famous training aircraft, the North American T-6.  Hagedorn will share his deep passion and extensive knowledge of this historic airplane. The "briefing" is the first in a new series of up-close presentations in the Museum's replica Quonset hut in the World War II section of the Personal Courage Wing. The program is followed by a question and answer session and book signing.

 

"Quonset Hut Mission Briefing" with Museum Senior Curator Dan Hagedorn: The Chance Vought F4U-Corsair

Saturday, Nov. 28, 2 p.m., Quonset Hut Theater, Personal Courage Wing

Museum of Flight's Senior Curator, Dan Hagedorn will conduct an up-close look at the design, development and missions of the famous World War II Navy and Marine fighter aircraft, the F4U Corsair. The "briefing" will include the history, recovery and restoration of the Museum's F4U, located next to the Quonset hut in the Personal Courage Wing. Hagedorn will lead a tour of that aircraft following the presentation.
