Arson Fires in Hoquiam Worry Hoquiam Police Department

HOQUIAM, Wash. – The Hoquiam Police Department is investigating a series of suspicious fires as arson. Seargent Steve Fretts tells us in each instance the fires were started with nearby fuel, and in one instance the fire could have been far worse."They started a fire on top of a gas main in the alley behind Fred’s Towing the other night, then last night they tried to light the beauty bark on fire in front of Twin County Credit Union."

Since August 12, Police and Fire officials have responded to four suspicious fires in the area of Ontario and Simpson. All fires have started in the late night, early morning hours. Surveillence video has shown possibly two individuals on bikes in the area of one fire set in an alley a couple nights ago. All fires have been started with available materials and so far, little damage has been reported. Investigators are concerned as this seems to be escalating . If you observe any suspicious persons or have information, please call the Hoquiam Police Dept. at 532-0892 ext 102. Please call 911 if you see suspicious activity in this area.
