Flaming vehicle closes down traffic near Elma Sunday, second wreck a mile away

ELMA, Wash. – An unsafe lane change is the cause of an accident that blocked Highway 12 at the Satsop River Bridge Sunday afternoon. It escalated quickly and ended with a 2000 Dodge Stratus in flames in the median. The Washington State Patrol reports a 76 year old Elma woman over corrected when she noticed another car in the Left lane she was entering and slid into the cable barrier between East and Westbound traffic. It happened around 1:30 yesterday, the only injury reported was the passenger, a 27 year old Montesano man.
Highway 12 was closed at the bridge for over an hour, and the traffic backup played a part in another accident.
The Washington State Patrol reports a 2001 4-door Honda rear ended a 2000 Ford Focus about a mile away.A 33 year old Elma man driving the Focus, was transported to Summit Pacific Medical Center. The 27 year old Elma man in the Honda was uninjured and cited for following too close.
