Victim identified, no charges filed in tragic accident

HOQUIAM, Wash. – No charges are being filed at this time for the 41 year old Raymond man who said he didn’t see 50 year old Darla Dean of Hoquiam in the crosswalk before he drove over her Tuesday, dragging her across Highway 101 near the Simpson Avenue bridge.
Deputy Chief Don Wertanen tells us Dean was in an electric wheelchair, crossing 22nd street. The driver told officers that he didn’t see her in front of his truck until he drove through the intersection and saw her motorized scooter in his rear view mirror. Wertanen said the driver also submitted a blood test, at this time no charges have been filed pending those results.
Dean was declared deceased at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
