3rd Annual Fred Brownfield Memorial Lucus Oil ASCS National Sprint Tour
The best 360 Sprint Drivers in the country that will represent at least twelve states and two provinces will be on hand this weekend including 18 to 20 ASCS National drivers, highlighted by former World Of Outlaw drivers Paul McMahan from California, Danny Wood from Oklahoma, and Shane Stewart from also from Oklahoma, who is the defending champion of the Fred Brownfield Memorial. Mix that will Former ASCS National champion and current point leader Gary Wright from Hooks, Texas, 2008 champion Jason Johnson from Eunice, Louisiana, Travis Rilat from Fourney, Texas, and Benton, Arkansas driver Tim Crawley. Two local drivers from Snohomish Gary Taylor and Seth Bergman sit in 13th and 19th places respectively in the points race. Jesse Hockett from Warsaw, Missouri who sits in tenth spot in the National points has won the first two races of Speedweek, Monday at Medford and Tuesday at Cottage Grove.
Local drivers that will be on hand include former track champions Glenn Borden Jr. from Raymond and Jay Cole from Shelton, Tacoma's Shawn Rice will be another contender as he has been fast at Grays Harbor all year and won a ASCS feature here in May and Henry Van Dam from Enumclaw who won his first feature of the year, two weeks ago at Grays Harbor Raceway. Quilcene's JJ Hickle who ran some ASCS National events last year will be looking for his first ASCS feature along with Kirkland's Steve Vague.
ASCS Northwest Region drivers entered include Medord's Roger Crockett, Puyallup's Mitch Olson, California's Steven Tiner, Burlington's Jason Solwold, Snohomish driver Jared Ridge
Other Oregon drivers expected to run include Medford driver's Chad Nolan and Phillip De Rosa, along with Bend's Chad Groves.
The Canadian contingent will be lead by Surrey, B.C. driver Travis Rutz, Jeff Hodgson from St. Albert, Alberta and Mike Melwicks from Richmond, B.C.
The Triple X Ford Focus Midget division will also be on hand for both nights of action, Auburn's Jonathan Jorgenson leads the point standings with 855 points, followed by McCleary's Brandon Daniels 16 points back at 839, Seth Hespe from Snohomish moved back into third place with his win last Saturday Night and has 804 points , 8 more than Springfield's Allison Journey at 796. Montesano's Jeremy Miller rounds out the top five with 738 points.
The front gates will open at 3:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday Night, with racing to start at 7:00 pm. Tickets will go sale both days starting at 10.00 am
