Early auditions for “Les Miserables” at Grays Harbor College
Early auditions for Grays Harbor College’s Spring musical production of “Les Miserables” are slated for Saturday, October 12. The Tryouts will start at 10 a.m. at the Music Pavilion on the College’s main campus in Aberdeen.
Specifically, three males roles of Jean Valjean, Javert and Marius, plus the female lead Cosette will be cast after the October 12 auditions. Those trying out should be prepared to sing the epilogue, “Do You Hear the People Sing”. Also, as an option (not required), auditioners may bring sheet music and sing 16 bars of a song of their own choosing.
After these auditions are heard, people will be selected to stay for callbacks. Selections for the first callbacks will include: “Who Am I?” and “Bring Him Home” (Valjean); “Javert’s Suicide” (Javert); “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” (Marius); and “In My Life” (Cosette). Vocal numbers for second callbacks include “A Heart Full of Love (Reprise)” (Valjean, Marius and Cosette) and “The Confrontation” (Javert and Valjean).
According to director Brad Duffy, auditions for the remaining roles and the chorus of “Les Miserables” will take place on December 10 and 12. A separate audition for the children’s roles of Gavroche and Young Cosette will occur at a date and time yet to be determined. The musical will be performed seven times in March at the Bishop Center.
