Administrative Changes Announced at Aberdeen School District

ABERDEEN, Wash. - Aberdeen Superintendent Thomas Opstad announced today several administrative reassignments at the secondary level effective July 1.

Rocky Rockquin, principal at Aberdeen High School, and Sherri Northington, principal at Harbor High School, will become co-principals at Aberdeen High School. Derek Cook, currently an assistant principal at Aberdeen High School, will become the interim principal at Harbor High School. James Bowers, an assistant principal at Aberdeen High School, has accepted a position at Centralia High School. His position will not be filled.
Dr. Opstad also announced that he is adding a fourth counselor at Aberdeen High School. This will make it possible for each counselors to be assigned a class and remain with that class through their high school career. “In making these changes, I have reflected carefully on how to position our district for a financially secure future during this period of lower enrollment while also putting the needs of students and staff at the forefront of our planning,” Dr. Opstad said. “I look forward to working with Rocky, Sherri, and Derek as we transition into the 2013-2014 school year to meet the needs of all our students.”
