Hoquiam Says No Riverfest This Summer, Hopefully Next

HOQUIAM, Wash. – There will be no Riverfest this summer in Hoquiam, mayor Jack Durney said this week “All of Grays Harbor has been blessed by the Hoquiam Development Association, and the Riverfest is a lot of fun [with] the rubber ducky race, the Coast Guard, we get big crowds in downtown Hoquiam. But that kind of thing requires effort and it’s really hard to get volunteers.
Durney told his city council this week that he hopes someone will take the reins by next summer, after the Hoquiam Development Authority this year said they would not be able to provide enough volunteers to hold the event.
