Two Head-On Fatalities Investigated on Western Washington Highways Saturday
RAYMOND, Wash. – An 80 year old Elma man died on State Route 101 Saturday, after his 2012 Chevy Cruze crossed the center line and colided head on with a pickup truck, then was struck by a second truck that had been following him.
Phillip Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene, about 8 miles North of Raymond. A 38 year old Raymond man driving the oncoming truck was transported to Willipa Harbor Hospital, the driver of the second truck was not injured.
The Washington State Patrol closed State Route 101 from Cosmopolis to Raymond while the scene was investigated, Trooper Russ Winger tells us traffic was diverted through Westport for hours Saturday.
A man riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle was killed just hours later on state route 106 in Mason County when he crossed the center line and hit a Chevy Volt head on.
Winger said 47 year old Michael Williams, of Snohomish, died at the scene, about 5 miles east of Union. The 68 year old woman driving the Volt was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, with non-threatening life injuries.
