Bookmark and Share

SHELTON, Wash. – Around 1 this morning, Mason County Sheriff Jail Officers were conducting their hourly bed-checks and found that an inmate had hanged himself. The inmate did not have any cell-mates and had not made any indications to hurt himself or others. Detective William Adam with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office tells us attempts to resuscitate him by both Jail Staff and Emergency Medical Responders were unsuccessful.

Coroner Wes Stockwell made the family notifications and identified the inmate as 27 year old Native American male, Jimi Lee Johnson. Jimi Johnson was a Skokomish Indian Nation Tribal member.

No other information is available at this time due to the on-going investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
