Ongoing library programs: Story Times

Readiness for reading and school, positive experiences among families and friends, and growth in the connection between libraries, learning and joy: these are some of the objectives of library story time programs for children from birth to Kindergarten. Following are the regular story time program series being held this season at local Timberland Regional Libraries.

Toddler Story Time

For 2 year-olds, accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. Programs include simple stories, rhymes, songs and movement games that children and adults can enjoy together.

Preschool Story Time

For children ages 3 to 6. Join in a program of stories, rhymes, songs and movement games. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join in.

Ocean Park Timberland Library: Wednesdays, 10-10:30 a.m., February 6-May 15

Family Story Time

For children age 6 and younger and their families; all ages are welcome. Join in a program of stories, rhymes, songs and movement games. Children are welcome to bring a favorite blanket and wear pajamas for evening story times.

Ilwaco Timberland Library presents Teens DIY: Mendhi Henna Tattoos, May 1-31 for teens. Learn to use all-natural henna paste to make temporary tattoos. All material will be provided. Naselle Timberland Library presents Container Gardening with WSU Master Gardeners, 6-7 p.m., May 1 for adults and teens. The WSU Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties will present a workshop on container gardening with edible plants. The program is being held at each Pacific County library during May. The program is part of Pacific County Preps, a year-long focus by the Pacific County Timberland libraries to offer practical programs and displays that contribute to self-sufficiency and help build strong communities. Raymond Timberland Library presents Author Talk: Jeff Burlingame, 11 a.m.-noon, May 4 for adults. Author Jeff Burlingame will speak on his recent biography of the popular former Washington legislator, Sid Snyder, “Across the Aisles: Sid Snyder’s Remarkable Life in Groceries & Government.” The book is the latest in the Washington State Heritage Center’s Legacy Project series. The author will sign books following the talk. Books will be available for purchase. The Friends of the Raymond Timberland Library will provide refreshments. In the small world of Mary Shaver’s puppets, drought and famine ravage Africa and as the animals suffer, skinny Spider discovers his plump Cousin is hiding a Magic Rock that churns out flour. Spider decides to make his fortune selling the flour. His sweetness, then greed, reveal why today spiders hide under rocks. Children will learn an African song and some Swahili and take home a small puppet. This event is part of “Dig into Reading,” a Timberland Regional Library districtwide summer program. Make an android companion, design cyborg-inspired jewelry, craft a Chinese paper lantern, and try to survive a plague game.
