Crews working seven days a week on US 12 east of White Pass
Drivers can expect up to 30 minute delays
White Pass, WA – Starting this week, drivers can expect temporary lane closures east of White Pass seven days a week during daylight hours. Crews are stopping traffic for up to 30 minutes in both directions. After Memorial Day weekend, closures will be limited to four days per week – Monday through Thursday, during daylight hours to reduce impacts to recreational traffic.
The project stabilizes the slopes in two areas by removing loose rock, anchoring remaining rock and placing a wire mesh to control future falling rocks. The project is located on US 12 at mileposts 154.3 and 165 just east of White Pass. The US 12 slope stabilization project is wrapping up the second year of construction and is scheduled to be complete June 2013.
Chinook Pass is currently closed. Crews are in the process of clearing Chinook, and hope to reopen prior to Memorial Day weekend.
