ABERDEEN, Wash. – The Aberdeen VFW is teaming up with this radio station to offer a commuter’s breakfast May 1st, Commander Jim Daly explains “we’ll take donations, and this will be for our building fund to repair the roof at our downtown Aberdeen facility.”
Daily said the local post has held 3 fundraisers so far to help with repairs to reopen the 100-year old Bijou Theater at 105 E. Heron in Aberdeen. It was a year ago in May that the doors were closed, after extensive damage was discovered on the roof and rafters. Daily said costs to repair the building are over $250,000. “We’re working with Anchor Bank to develop a loan, and we’re just trying to fill the gap.”
The group needs to raise somewhere between $25 and 40-thousand to fill that gap. If you would like to help out, stop by 1520 Simpson Avenue in Aberdeen on the morning of May first to make a donation and get a commuter’s breakfast. You can also donate to the Aberdeen VFW Building fund at Anchor Bank branches.
