Hoquiam, WA- A home has been surrounded in the 2800 block of Aberdeen Avenue in Hoquiam, following a shooting involving a Hoquiam Police Department Officer. Hoquiam Police Department has confirmed that shots were fired and that an officer was injured.
The officer, who remains un-named, has been taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The officer was shot while trying to serve a warrant to the Hoquiam man. KBKW News Director Dave Haviland spoke with the officer and has said the officer’s injuries appear to be minor.
The police department has confirmed that the bottom floor of the two-story home has been secured and officers are inside and negotiating with the man. The suspect is currently held up in the 2nd story part of the home.
At this point officers are trying to keep people away from the house, and that 28th street and Aberdeen Ave. have been blocked off.
