Deadline Approaching on Crude by Rail Permit Process
HOQUIAM, Wash. – The expanded-deadline is this Friday for comments on a determination required for the proposed expansion to Westway Terminals. City Administrator Brian Shay said at last month’s council meeting “The city and department of Ecology issued a Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance (MDNS) on their SEPA checklist. Citizens who have comments or concerns can express that in writing. Right now the current deadline is this Friday, we’re considering extending the deadline for comments.” The deadline was extended to April 19th for public comment.
Shay said three attempts are under way to bring the crude oil export business to the harbor, each needs about 14 permits approved between city, state, coast guard, and other regulatory agencies.
