Allyn, WA – On March 7, 2013 around 2 PM, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an assault that had occurred at the Lakeland Village Golf Course in Allyn, WA. Investigation revealed that an intoxicated 21 year old man came up from behind 77 year old Harlan Olson from Belfair and hit him in the head with the back handle of a knife. 64 year old Steven Emerick, also from Belfair, was a witness to the attack. Both Olson and Emerick had gone to Lakeland Village to play a round of golf. After assaulting Olson and challenging Emerick, the attacker then fled into the woods.

Mr. Olson declined any medical aid and it appeared that neither Olson or Emerick knew the attacker.

The 21 year old man later walked out of the woods and turned himself into investigating Deputies. He said that he had been drinking all night and that he threw the knife away. He then provided a voluntary breath sample that read .122 BAC.

The 21 year old man was identified in Mason County Superior Court as Zachary Kauahi from Allyn. According to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office, Zachary Kauahi will be charged with Assault 2nd Degree. Other possible charges are pending.
