Monday March 11 Marks Anniversary of Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami

MONTESANO, Wash. – Grays Harbor County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Chuck Wallace reminds coastal residents that Monday March 11th is the two year anniversary of the Great Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami.

“We are just as susceptible to an event of that magnitude along our coastline. I have attached a link which is a MUST SEE for all coastal residents. I urge all residents of the county to understand that an event of this magnitude will impact each and every one of us.

Wallace said “Do not believe because you live in East County that your family will be safe from the wrath of this type of event. Remember, there will be numerous earthquakes associated with this event as well as landslides, liquefaction and subsidence. Please take time to prepare your family and friends for the risk you possess where you live. because you live in East county, your family will be safe from the wrath of this type of event.

In the event of a Cascadia Subduction Zone quake, Wallace said, there will be numerous earthquakes, as well as landslides, liquefaction and subsidence.
