South Beach March Events

CERAMIC COASTER – Thursday, March 7th 6:30 – 8:30 pm

No Fee – FREE !! Create your own 4 ¼” round, fired ceramic coaster! All materials provided. Choose one of several ‘beachy’ designs, or create something unique. Coasters will be gloss glazed after class, fired and available for pick-up the following Tuesday night during UFO class night.

ORGANIC GARDENING – Saturday, March 9th 1:00 – 3:00 pm

No Fee – FREE !! Learn about vegetable gardening using organic methods. Learn how to create rich soil without using chemical fertilizers, how to plan a garden using companion planting for healthier plants, and how to start plants from seeds. All materials provided. Please bring pencil and paper for and any (6- 8 ounce) yogurt containers or 2 inch plastic flower pots you have.

ALTERED ART – DOMINO FRIDGE MAGNET – Thursday, March 14th 6:30 – 8:30 pm

No Fee – FREE !! Get into the groove of altered art with this fun domino fridge magnet project. We’ll use alcohol inks, stamping, embossing, chalking and other techniques to make a fridge magnet. Can also be used as a pendant for those who know how to wire-wrap.

FUSED GLASS SUN CATCHER – Thursday, March 21st 6:30 – 8:30 pm

No Fee – FREE !! Create and assemble an ornament-sized whimsical sun catcher made with fused glass! All materials provided. Sun catchers will be fired by instructor after class and may be picked up at the SBAA center the following Tuesday night during UFO class night.

POLYMER CLAY DEMONSTRATION – Thursday, March 28th 6:30 – 8:30 pm

No Fee – FREE !! See how this versatile plastic clay, available in every color, can be blended, sculpted and baked to create amazing works! Artists use this oven-bakeable clay for doll-making, sculpting, jewelry – even museum-quality art pieces. This free demonstration is a preview of the Beginning Polymer Clay course we’ll be offering at the Center, through Grays Harbor College, in May.
