Arresting Officers Find Military Ordnance

ABERDEEN, Wash. – Arresting officers last night found military ordnance at a house in the 600 block of Polk Street. Captain John Green with the Aberdeen Police Department tells us at 8:40 last night they assisted Cosmopolis officers in arresting a subject for vehicle theft.and arrest warrants out of the county. While doing a sweep of the Aberdeen home, three pieces of military ordinance were located; an 81mm mortar round, a 3″ artillery warhead, and a 35mm round, with its casing attached.
Green said officers secured the residence and contacted the Explosive Ordnance Disposal division of Joint Base Lewis McCord. An Aberdeen officer secured the house and stayed on scene until the US Army officials arrived and took custody of the items for disposal.
Green added “It is our understanding that one of the three rounds was still live.”
